Seong Jaeseong suffers from three hearing-related conditions: hypersensitivity, phonophobia, and an obsession with sound. Because his hearing is more sensitive than others', Jaeseong hears everything he doesn't want to hear, and when he perceives loud sounds, he experiences a sensation of the space shrinking. However, this condition allows Jaeseong to recognize people who have lost the ability to protect themselves and have become invisible. Inspired by their fragile nature, Jaeseong calls them "cookies" and categorizes them into three levels: those split in half (not invisible, but also lacking presence); those that are fragmented (even if they are right next to you, you can't recognize them); and those that are barely crumbs (lacking presence and on the verge of disappearing from the world). Cookies, therefore, are people who have lost their place in society and have no self-esteem. People who disappear and become invisible, until something happens that can change them.
